Official: Dan Chalmers appointed Director of YouTube Music in Europe, Middle East and Africa

Last summer we learned that Warner Music Group (WMG) veteran Dan Chalmers (pictured) was hired to lead YouTube Music in the EMEA region.

Today, YouTube, which claims 2 billion connected users per month, made the news official: Chalmers has been appointed director of YouTube Music in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).

Chalmers has over 20 years of experience in the music industry and was previously Chairman of ADA – the independent services and distribution arm of Warner – in the UK. He was also in charge of two UK based Warner labels, East West and Rhino Records.

In this new role, Chalmers will be responsible for managing YouTube’s Music business in EMEA and will report to Head of YouTube in EMEA, Cécile Frot-Coutaz.

Chalmers’ high-level appointment to EMEA’s leadership for YouTube Music follows the platform’s hiring of another respected former WMG executive, Stephen Bryan, who has joined YouTube as head of YouTube Music. relations with SoundCloud labels in 2017.
